I'm sorry for the lapse there, but I've been BUSY! I just had a new book release, called A Home for Her Family and I'm sooo glad to see this book finally out and on the shelves!
And then....
I also just finished a NEW Mary Jane Hathaway book and I love it SO MUCH! (To be released on the 28th of October!) It's probably my favoritest book EVAH. It's packed full of rare books, poetry, cats, Southern food, books, Creole speakers, books and a hunky, hi-tech hero. *sigh*
Did you catch that it was a romance written around BOOKS??
Here's the blurb:
"Alice Augustine runs the oldest bookstore in the historic district of Natchitoches and believes technology is the root of most problems. If only more people would turn off the Tv and shut down the computer, the world wouldn't be in the mess it's in. If only she can get the teens she loves to step away from the screens and hold on to their Creole culture.
Paul Olivier comes back to his home town determined to show the people of Cane River that he's not the poor, nerdy kid he once was. He's made a fortune designing video games and opening a giant electronics store right in the snooty historic district will be the crowning glory of his career.
Alice and Paul clash from the start, but nothing is ever quite as it seems. When secrets are revealed, will there be a second chance- for both of them?
A romance that brings the humor of You've Got Mail and the deep friendships of 84, Charring Cross Road, this story will touch the classic literature lover in everyone."
I loved writing this story because I've always wanted to write a modern secret identity story(I've written one in my historical, Purple Like the West).
You know, like You've Got Mail? But set in the South with lots of good food! As always, the book includes recipes (Natchitoches Meat Pies and Gumbo) and lots of ROMANCE. It's not up on Amazon yet but you can add it to your 'want to read' list here!
So, to celebrate this almost-very-soon release, I'm giving away one $25 Amazon gift card because I know you all need more BOOKS! To enter you can leave a comment and let me know you added it to your goodreads 'want to read' list, OR you can share this post! (It shows up under the "invent your own option" but you know what I mean. And thank you for helping me celebrate!)

Cooking? In summer. Well, does opening cans and making salads with fruit count? :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what question is still on there? It's supposed to be about books! Oh, Rafflecopter!
DeleteCongrats on your upcoming release!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marissa!! My kids are huge fans of your books. (Just throwing that in here...)
DeleteLove all your books! I don't think one can ever have enough books, and a romance built around books and food is perfect for these getting-chilly (or is that chile?) days.
ReplyDeleteLOL! We definitely have chile around here! But the air is JUST starting to turn chilly, so all our leaves are still stubbornly stuck to the trees. :)
DeleteOh, it sounds delicious. And with such unique details that only Mary Jane Hathaway could pull off. Congrats. That's really cool that it's your favorite book EVAH. Oh, what a feeling.
ReplyDeleteIt IS! And I know I said it was probably wandering nowhere for hundreds of pages, but now that I stepped back for a few weeks... I see the method in the madness and I LOVE it. Who knew my brain could cough up all that?
DeleteI just need five more to try and nudge you from your stop spots. :D
TOP spots. hahaa!
DeleteThis one sounds great! I'm looking forward to it and I love the cover too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Piper! I do love the cover! The first round was completely different and I tried to explain what was in my head a little better... and I have so much admiration for cover designers. They take "kinda, should be, sorta like" and make something so close to my vision I was rather amazed!
DeleteI made some awesome peach orange marmalade earlier this summer and just used the last of our frozen peaches for smoothies a couple weeks ago. I ordered "A Home..." a few weeks ago from paperbackswap, and can't wait to read "The Pepper"! Congratulations on your new releases!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sarah
Thank you, Sarah! And I made that recipe you shared and it's ALL GONE. We loved it!
DeleteBaked peaches with ice cream!
ReplyDeleteMy friend likes to grill peaches outside, then top them with vanilla ice cream. Sounds delicious!
DeleteLOVED Pepper in the Gumbo! You all will want to read it! Thanks Mary Jane Hathaway!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura! And huge thanks for your feedback. I've been adding in some things you mentioned. I love my BETA READERS!
DeleteA Home For Her Family... Love the title and cover!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christy! The building in the background looks so much like my alma mater, University of Oregon's Knight Library that I just stared and stared the first time I saw it!
DeleteI'm so pleased that there is a new post to read. And congratulations on the impending release of The Pepper in the Gumbo. Thanks for your kind understanding that we, readers need more books or anything they can get their hands on to lead them to read more books.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could write as fast as you (and I) read! And my poor blog ended up at the very bottom of the heap when my spare time was limited. Poor blog! I had to kiss it and make up before it would let me post!
DeleteHi! I was making cookies this summer for my boys!

Hi Jennifer! I have a child who is MAD for snickerdoodles.
DeleteI enjoy making Snicker Doodles as they fairly simple and I seem to have the ingredients.
DeleteCongratulations! Can't wait to read the rest of this fabulous book--the first chapter has me eager for the whole thing! Again, such a BEAUTIFUL cover!
ReplyDeleteh...and I made my FIRST peach pie last month..with a crumb top! So yummy! I love to bake and experiment! :)
DeleteHi there! Hm, Anonymous, only one person has only read the first chapter so I know who you are! LOL
DeleteAnd I was very wary of peach pie for a long time, but it's not that hard. Still not my favorite pie but everyone else loved it!
Oooooh, they both sound amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who makes a pineapple upside down cake in her crock pot. Those things are awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove making peach smoothies . . . looking forward to your new book -- enjoyed Leaving Liberty and Austen Takes the South series.
ReplyDeleteSorry, forgot my name -- Carol
DeleteHi Carol! I love fresh peach smoothies and I froze a lot of peaches this year to see if they're as good when they've been in the deep freeze for a while. :)
DeleteI have enjoyed all of your books. I look forward to your new book.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amanda! That makes my day!
DeleteSounds like a book I would love to read!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to do a Christian version of "You've Got Mail" for several years now--absolutely love that movie! My daughter and I did a couple lines from the movie while talking on the phone earlier today, too. :)
Then write it, Melanie! We're waiting! Lots of anxious readers would really enjoy that story. :)
DeleteLove your books. Great giveaway. One can never have too many books!
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed the Austen takes the South series!
ReplyDeleteMy husband just loves peach pie when I make it. =) I have some reading to catch up on with all your books!
ReplyDeleteI love peach cobbler so that's what I cook all year long! You KNOW I wanted to come to your house and share your peaches with you :) DARN!!!!! Now your peach trees aren't there anymore.......correct?? I'm so sad...boo hoo!!! I missed my chance.....
ReplyDeleteI very much enjoyed The Pepper in the Gumbo! I actually printed out a copy of the PDFS and tucked it in my bookcase so I can read it again later. It's one of my favorite books now. I hope there will be a sequel.
